PATRICIA CARDOSO
An award-winning director. Her UCLA thesis film The Water Carrier won a Student Academy Award, and her feature film Real Women Have Curves won a Sundance Film Festival Audience Award. She has directed the web-series Ro, the television movies Meddling Mom and Lies in Plain Sight, and the short films La Clave, Deep Blue Breath and The Air Globes. Her films have been recognized at Festivals in San Sebastian, London, Guadalajara and Telluride.
Cardoso is a Fulbright Scholar. She graduated from UCLA with an MFA in film and from Universidad de los Andes with a BA in Anthropology. Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, she made her first film when she was eight. It was a documentary about fat cows and skinny cows and was made with a small cardboard box and long strips of paper and toothpicks due to the lack of technology in her home.
As director of Sundance Institute’s Latin American program for five years she worked closely with Robert Redford and Michelle Satter. She’s a professor of film directing at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and a member of the Directors Guild of America. Other recognitions include a Humanities Prize, the IDA Lupino Directors Guild of America Award, and a Special Recognition Award from the Smithsonian Institute.
tracy boyd
Tracy Boyd is currently set to direct the feature film, THE ART OF NEGATIVE THINKING; while in development of a series based on the pilot he directed, SACRED JOURNEYS (starring Glenn Scarpelli and Mackenzie Phillips). Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Boyd studied philosophy, physics, and world religion at Humboldt State University on his way to a life in film. While finishing Humboldt’s graduate film program, he wrote and directed the award winning thesis short, THAT ART THOU. Most recently Tracy Boyd directed second unit for the film DOWNSIZING (starring Matt Damon, Hong Chau, Kristen Wiig), produced and directed the pilot SACRED JOURNEYS (starring Glenn Scarpelli and Mackenzie Phillips) and directed and executive produced HAPPY BOBBY GULLIVER, a pilot featuring an all-star cast of Second City alums. His first professional gig came on the Academy Award nominated ABOUT SCHMIDT (starring Jack Nicholson). Since then, he's worked as a writer, director, and producer-- directing and producing the second units for the Academy Award winning THE DESCENDANTS (George Clooney, Shailene Woodley), SIDEWAYS (Paul Giamatti), and THE KING OF CALIFORNIA (Michael Douglas), along with HBO's TRUE DETECTIVE (Colin Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams), ENLIGHTENED (Mike White, Laura Dern). and HUNG (Thomas Jane).
